Finalize Your Moving Dates

You need to firm up the dates for your moving service. Get those dates in writing. You don't want to any surprises or misunderstandings.

  1. Full Moving Services:
confirm dates when packers will arrive so that you will be ready. Also confirm dates for truck arrival and delivery. You want to be present for loading and unloading:

  2. You Pack - They Drive Movers:
usually you will have 1-2 days or more to load up the truck or pod once it has been delivered to your move-out place. Confirm the dates. You want to be ready to load once the truck or pod arrives.

Likewise, confirm when the truck or pod will arrive at your move-in place. Again, you need to be able to unload in order to meet the time-frame to avoid penalities:

  3. Truck Rentals:
confirm the date and time you can pick up the truck. You will be given so-many days for the rental period. You need to load the truck, drive to your new location, and unload it within the rental period to avoid penalities:

Take Inventory

Prepare an inventory of everything you own. Segment your list into three categories:

  1. items to pack and move on the truck
  2. items that you will move yourself
  3. items that will be discarded

Finalize Your Housing Needs

Stay on track with your housing arrangements, especially those who are looking to rent. Confirm the dates when you can take possession. That will determine when the delivery truck is to arrive.

  • You should make final arrangements for your housing needs. This would include signing the lease on your rental or arrange closing on your home.
  • If you still haven't located a place to live, or if you still need more time to finalize your arrangement, you may need to find temporary housing and storage in order to meet your move date:

notes: insurance

  • Homeowners:
you will be required to have insurance before you close on your home.
  • Renters: get insurance to protect your things. Your landlord's housing insurance typically does not cover your personal items in the event of loss or destruction.
